Racing from the dawn of the automobile until 1942, when the need for resources to put into the war effort had put a halt to almost all automobile racing for the duration of the war. Because of the spotty news coverage, lost information, and multi-class racing meets in the early days of motorsport there aren't separations for this era by class of vehicle. Motorcycle racing information from this era is in the Motorcycles Subject Page.
