Star Drivers Practice for Phoenix Races

PHOENIX, Dec. 30.—Race drivers of Phoenix and surrounding points who will take part in the New Year's day speed events, will take their final practice spins today on the mile track at the state fair grounds.

Sunday the track will be closed and a coat of calcium applied.

Drivers will receive instructions and have their cars registered at a meeting this afternoon.

Roy Smith and L. M. Brugy escaped injury Thursday when Smith's car sideswiped Brugy's as both were rounding a curve on the track. Each car lost a wheel in the smash.
