Originally, the "International" brand was used as International Harvester's line of light-duty vehicles in the pre-war and early postwar years, until the full IH name was used in the sixties and seventies.

Following the cessation of light vehicle lines in 1980 and the sale of its agricultural machinery business in 1984, International Harvester dropped "Harvester" from its name and became the International brand of heavy-duty trucks owned by Navistar that we know today.

Vehicle names used by classic International throughout its history include: C1 and D1.

Vehicle names used by modern International throughout its history include: 1854, 3700, 3800, 4000, 4300, 4700, 4900, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8600, 9200, 9400, 9900, AmTran, DuraStar, Genesis, LoneStar, PayStar, ProStar, TranStar, and WorkStar.
