“Sheltra To Be Powered By Toyota Camry For First Time In 2010”

JUSTIN, Texas (April 13, 2010) - - On the heels of three consecutive top-10 finishes in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS), Patrick Sheltra invades Texas Motor Speedway looking to keep his early season momentum train rolling with a victory in Friday night’s Rattlesnake 150.

The Indiantown, Florida native notched his first career victory on the treacherous short track of Salem (Ind.) Speedway last April but Sheltra is anxious to return to victory lane again. With his Sheltra Motorsports team led by crew chief Jon Wolfe unveiling a Toyota Camry for the first time in 2010, Sheltra feels that the timing could be perfect.

“I want to win again bad,” said Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services-Buffalo Wings & Rings Toyota Camry. “Not only do I want to win for my team and our marketing partners but what a boost it would be to win in ARCA’s return at Texas Motor Speedway.”

Sheltra continued, “We ran Dodge on the intermediate tracks last year and while we had some success – it was clearly evident that Toyota makes some great horsepower, especially on the bigger tracks. After some lengthy discussions in the off-season we decided to make the change. We’re looking forward to running a Toyota Camry at the bigger tracks this year and hope that manufacturer change will be that extra push we need to get back to victory lane.”

With the ARCA Racing Series set to make their return to TMS for the first time in 12 years, Sheltra was one of several race teams who opted to participate in an open-test at the 1.5-mile Texas speedway last month. Unofficially, Sheltra posted the ninth fastest time overall giving the team some good vibes about returning for the fourth race of the year.

“I learned a lot at the test a lot,” sounded Sheltra. “It’s a wicked fast place. Handling, horsepower and survival will be the key elements towards winning the race. We’ve been thinking the “bigger picture” all year long – so that’s the mentality we’ll continue to use for Friday’s race.”

Another goal that Sheltra is trying to capture is escaping Texas with the ARCA Racing Series point lead. Just 35 points separate the 23-year old young gun from the top spot held jointly by Justin Marks and Steve Arpin.

“It would be great to head to Talladega next weekend with the point’s lead,” Sheltra added. “We’ve been climbing the points ladder ever since Daytona and that’s real important – but it’s a long season – so we’re just going to focus on a strong finish and hope the finish will reward us on the other end.”

Entering Texas, Sheltra has 70 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 12 top-fives and posted 25 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

The Rattlesnake 150 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the fourth of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards schedule. The second ever ARCA race held at Texas Motor Speedway is a two day show. Practice begins Thursday, April 15 with a two hour practice session planned from 12:30p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Friday, April 16 shortly after 6:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
