Aric Almirola

Stock Car Racing

Aric Almirola
Person

Hometown:  Tampa, Florida

A stock car driver.

Aric Almirola was involved in a controversial race decision in the 2007 AT&T 250 at The Milwaukee Mile, a NASCAR Busch Series event.  While running well, Almirola was replaced by a late-arriving Denny Hamlin, who would go on and win the race.  Almirola was credited with the win as the driver who started the race.  It was technically his first major NASCAR win but he wasn't in the car to take the checkered flag, and the controversy surrounded whether he or Denny Hamlin should have been credited as winning the race.
