Leicht drives to first Career-Busch victory
Last Saturday night at the Kentucky Speedway, Stephen Leicht took his first NASCAR Busch Series victory. Leicht, who is just 20 years-old, played his cards well by taking advantage of Carl Edwards, despite not having the best car but achieving the win at Meijer 300.
"We knew Carl was going to be tough. I hate the way things ended like they did," Leicht said. "I really would have loved to race Carl for the win at the end, but you can't say enough about our car tonight. We were in the right position at the right time."
Leicht got a great line off the start on lap 184 then quickly reeled Scott Wimmer and was able to beat Brad Coleman by 2.011 seconds. The right position turned out to be third, following the final caution on lap 178."Those were the longest 10 laps of my life," Leicht said. "I never thought they were going to end."
