Many people can remember their first car, and if you're about 40 or 50 years old your first car might have been an authentic American muscle car. These types of vehicles have are responsible for people searching all over the United States for old muscle cars that need renovation. The top explanation is that not one of the Big Three are making these awesome machines anymore. The chief question is who is going to start making them again?

Chevy and Ford happen to be bringing out new versions of Camaro's and Mustangs ever since the 60's. The problem is the fact that with each passing model, they move away from the fierce power of a muscle car to something more technically advanced. Will there actually be the next car which has a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor? The sad facts are we will probably never have those categories of cars again.

The real concern is that people want to constantly improve things just for the sake of it. For instance the 1967 Camaro that is certainly one of the most well-liked muscle cars ever created. So if this car was so popular why did Chevy stop making it and why have they not made that type of model since. And also this is true of the 1966 Mustang, an amazing car with a great style and they just gave up on making it.

Here is the ironic part. The legendary VW Bug went out of key production in the late seventies, but was released a few decades later. Even though the modern Bug sold great they might have sold more if they just went back to the old style of Bug. It's difficult to do well if you consistently believe that doing things a new way is always better.

The most important question is this. If Chevy came out with a completely new Camaro with a 327 engine and 4 barrel carburetor, and if they omitted all the computer equipment and built the car like they used to, how many of you would want one? I've asked hundreds of people throughout the years and the response was the same: they would definitely get one. So what is the trouble with the car people? If consumers want the good old days, when is some auto company going to give people what they demand.

What will it take for GM or Ford to decide to make all those classic muscle cars once again? I'm sure that selling these unforgettable American cars will be very worthwhile for the car companies. But before big companies realize that there is a demand for these kinds of vehicles we are going to need to keep looking through the junk yards and rebuilding the classic American muscle cars.

No one knows maybe someday a muscle car fanatic will end up with an powerful position in one of those major automobile companies and be able to talk some sense into them. Sadly the head folks at these companies have this belief, that if they think they are creating new and better muscle car, people will want it. You'll find it is probably a better idea to simply return to your roots.
