VOA Breaking News (Voice of America)

The Renault Formula One team will has agreed to a long-term partnership with Malaysian-owned sports car company Lotus and will race as the Lotus Renault GP team next year.

In an announcement Wednesday, Renault said its new seven-season agreement to create Lotus Renault GP “marks the complete return of the Lotus manufacturer to the sport.''

Group Lotus raced in Formula One for the first time in 16 seasons in 2010 after leasing its name to Tony Fernandes' Lotus Racing.

The deal raises the confusing specter of the new Lotus Renault team competing against the existing Team Lotus.
