Iranian President to Auction Car

VOA Breaking News (Voice of America)
December 30, 2010 at 1:05 pm

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is auctioning off his 1977 Peugeot car for charity.

Iran's state-run media quote a free trade zone official (Ali Asghar Parhizgar) as saying the Peugeot 504 will be auctioned during a classic car exhibit in February. The vehicle will be one of 70 on display.

The money raised from the auction will reportedly be used to support a national low-income housing program.

Mr. Ahmadinejad used the car when he was mayor of Tehran, but has rarely used it since becoming president in 2005.
