Woman Survives 6-Story Parking Garage Plunge

An Australian woman is lucky to be alive after her car plunged 30 meters from the top of a six-story parking garage in Melbourne.

Paramedics say the woman, who is in her 40s, survived because her vehicle became wedged between two buildings and stopped just short of hitting the street.

Firefighters freed the driver about half-an-hour after the accident and took her to a hospital with serious head injuries. Officials say she is in stable condition.

Police are investigating why the barriers on the sixth floor failed to prevent the car from falling.
