A.J. Frank Looks For Magical Finish To Strong USAR Season At South Boston

“Frank Focused On Winning; Gain In Point Standings”

SOUTH BOSTON, Virginia (November 3, 2010) - - USARacing Pro Cup Series driver A.J. Frank enters Saturday’s season finale at South Boston (Va.) Speedway looking to end a strong 2010 season with a magical touch by notching his first career victory in the USARacing Pro Cup Series Championship 300 presented by Strutmasters.com.

Frank, driver of the No. 56 Speedco / Lucas Oil / 3 Wide Apparel / Coastal Medical Chevrolet Impala enters SoBo (South Boston) on the heels of a third place performance in the most recent event at Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway where an ailing motor could not seize a strong night for the Mac Hill Motorsports team.

With luck back on their side following an off-canter finish at the Historic North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway last month, Frank sets his sight on Saturday’s contest hoping to glue his Chevrolet bowtie to the top-spot and award his mainly all-volunteer crew with a well-deserved victory lane soaking at one of the most legendary tracks left on the short track stomping grounds.

“It would really mean the world to me to end the season with a win at South Boston,” said A.J. Frank, a native of Blufton, South Carolina. “I cannot continue to thank the Mac Hill Motorsports crew for their efforts not only this week but all year long. We’ve had some bumps but I believe that has made our team stronger and we’ve shown that on the race track. We’ve been so close to victory lane a couple times this year. This is the weekend to seal the deal and deliver.”

Not only is Frank leaning on South Boston (Va.) Speedway to guide him to victory lane but also the opportunity to surge in the USAR standings. Currently, Frank sits fifth in the standings, just 10 markers behind fourth place competitor J.P. Morgan. USAR veteran Jeff Agnew is just 49 points ahead of Frank in third. Mathematically, Frank still has a shot at the USAR championship, currently retained by Clay Rogers, but Frank and his Mac Hill team are reaching for that third spot. Car owner John “Jack” McNelly currently sits third in the USAR car owner standings, just 93 credits behind James Mosley Jr., owner of the No. 16 entry for Rogers.

“It’s my goal to finish inside the top-five and keep Jack as high up in the owner standings as I possibly can,” Frank sounded. “We’ve really had a good year overall and a solid end to a season can help set the foundation for next season. I think we’ll have a good weekend.”

A factor towards that good weekend comes with the massive amount of experience that Frank hoists at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. Frank will make his 10th career SOBO start this weekend while aiming for his third top-five and sixth top-10 finish overall.

“I’ve always liked South Boston,” added Frank. “It’s a driver’s race track. It’s a tough little track. You have to be able to keep the fenders on the car and emotions in-check. You also have to count on your team for flawless stops on pit road as track position can be difficult there. It should be a great race for the fans.”

Entering South Boston, Frank has 77 career USAR starts. During his tenure, he has captured 25 top-fives and 44 top-10 finishes, including eight top-fives in the 10 USAR races run this season.

The USARacing Pro Cup Series Championship 300 presented by Strutmasters.com 300 is the 11th and final race on the 2010 USARacing Pro Cup Series schedule.
