2011 Formula One Race Schedule Set

Voice of America
November 4, 2010

Auto racing's world governing body FIA has finalized the 2011 Formula One race schedule.

The new Indian Grand Prix is set for October 30 - subject to approval of the new circuit in New Delhi. The only other race on the 20-event calendar where the track must still be approved is the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, scheduled for April 15-17.

With the addition of the race in India, next year's championship season will include a record 20 races. The season will again begin in Bahrain in mid-March and will finish on November 27, 2011 - two weeks later than this year.

The Brazilian Grand Prix will be the final race of the year for first time since 2008, swapping places with Abu Dhabi, which will become the penultimate event.

There will be four sets of back-to-back races: Malaysia-China in April, Spain-Monaco in May, Germany-Hungary in July and Japan-South Korea in October. The season also will include a four-week break in August.
