Chinese media say a bus has fallen into a river in southwestern Sichuan province, leaving 27 people missing and feared dead.

The official Xinhua news agency says 11 people were rescued after the bus drove off a cliff and into Dajin River in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Sunday. The vehicle was traveling to Sichuan’s provincial capital Chengdu.

Xinhua initially reported 23 people died in the crash, but later said their fates were unclear.
