NJT-13-011

NEWARK, NJ —NJ TRANSIT announced that bus service in northern and central New Jersey (all routes north of I-195, including Mercer County service) will be restored starting at 7 a.m. Customers are advised to check njtransit.com for the latest service information.

Bus Service:

All bus service in Mercer County and along the Route 9 corridor will be restored to service as of 7:00 a.m.

The remainder of central and northern New Jersey bus service north of I-195 will be restored as of 8:00 a.m. This includes all routes that serve Port Authority Bus Terminal and George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal, as well as all northern local bus routes.

Customers can expect service delays and detours due to local road conditions. As such, customers should afford themselves ample time to reach their final destinations.

Rail Service:

NJ TRANSIT’s Morris & Essex Lines, Montclair-Boonton Lines and all Midtown Direct services remain temporarily suspended while crews continue a full assessment of the system this morning. Once engineers determine that rail service can safely resume, crews will immediately begin the service restoration process. It normally takes at least 12 hours to restore rail service following service suspensions, however steps have already been taken to expedite service restoration following the completion of inspections and any necessary repairs.

Systemwide Cross-Honoring Remains in Effect:

To give customers additional travel options, NJ TRANSIT will continue to offer full system wide cross-honoring on Saturday, February 9, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode--rail, light rail or bus. Additionally, NJ TRANSIT bus, rail, light rail and bus passes will be cross-honored on private carrier buses.

Extended Station Hours for Customer Comfort:

All NJ TRANSIT-owned and operated rail station waiting rooms will remain open with extended hours.
