AVEC To Power Consumer And Race Car

The auto industry is making great leaps in terms of the development of new generation of engines. German automaker Mercedes-Benz recently announced that they have developed an engine that runs on gasoline but burns the fuel like a diesel engine. General Motors also has a version of the said engine which the Detroit automaker calls the HCCI engine. But these major automakers are not the only ones coming up with revolutionary engine designs. Axial Vector Engine based in the Middle East recently announced that their dry engine will soon be used on consumer vehicles as well as in a race car. The engine maker paired with the Emirates International Capital Advisory of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The 50-50 venture will be geared towards the production of consumer vehicles which will be equipped with AVEC's engine.

According to reports from theautochannel.com, the consumer car will be equipped with AVEC's gasoline powered engine. This powerplant produces as much as 200 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. The engine developed by the said corporation is designed in a way that it has two drive shafts protruding from the engine. This is where this engine differs than our conventional engines since automakers uses engines with only one driveshaft protruding from the engine.

Because of that design, the engine can be mounted horizontally between the rear wheels. What this means is that the torque provided by the engine can be transferred immediately to the rear wheels. A magnetic clutch will be used to transmit the power of the engine to the wheels. The presence of the magnetic clutch means that a vehicle with this engine does not need a transmission.

Due to its design and the fact that it no longer needs a transmission, the whole powertrain of a vehicle with an AVEC engine is much lighter than a vehicle with a conventional drivetrain. Although the vehicle has to have other components such as the Mazda fuel filter, its lightweight design will increase the efficiency of the engine. In the current state of the auto industry where fuel efficiency is an attribute everyone is looking at, the arrival of a vehicle with an AVEC engine will surely be welcomed with open arms.

The race car version on the other hand will be designed to have more power and acceleration. And it will be done by strapping two of AVEC's engine on the car's axles. With an engine between the front wheels and another engine between the rear wheels both producing 640 lb-ft of torque, one can expect that this race car will be one fast machine.

The arrival of a consumer vehicle with this unique engine is still a long way off. And expectations are high. Just like the Chevy Volt and the new generation Toyota Prius, the HCCI engine and Mercedes-Benz' DiesOtto, this technology that AVEC is pushing forward is ushering in a new era in the auto industry, an era that will see more technological advances and more fuel efficient engines. After all, this industry has always been a dynamic one.
