Congressman Boehner: Presidents All-of-the-Above Rhetoric Belied by Record of Blocking American Energy, Driving Up Gas Prices

Congressman John Boehner
February 28, 2012

At a press conference with Republican leaders today, Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) highlighted President Obamas policies that are driving up gas prices by blocking more American energy production. The Congressman said if the president is serious about supporting an all-of-the-above energy policy, he should work with Republicans to help enact several bipartisan energy and jobs bills, passed as part of the Plan for Americas Job Creators, languishing in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Following are video and text of Congressman Boehners remarks:

You know American families and small businesses are continuing to struggle, and one of their big struggles these days is the rising price of gas. Never seen gasoline prices at this level, at this time of the year before and Republicans, as part of our plan for American job creators, have a number of bills that weve passed with bipartisan support and sent them over to the United States Senate.

The president says hes for an all-of-the-above energy plan. Has anyone seen it Ive not seen it. And the fact is, is the president blocked the Keystone pipeline, hes blocked efforts to expand energy production in the Intermountain West, over in the Gulf and in a small portion of Alaska.

If the president’s serious about working with us to expand energy production in America and to deal with the rising oil prices, its time for him to lay his cards on the table.
