WATKINS GLEN, New York – Officials from RACE 101 announced today that Sarah Cornett-Ching, the impressive ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards rookie will compete in Friday afternoon’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Bully Hill Vineyards 125 at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Friday’s race will be the third NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event for the popular driver this season. She’ll drive the No. 02 RACE 101 Chevrolet in an entry fielded by her crew chief and mentor, Tony Blanchard.

It will be a busy weekend for the female sensation. In addition to Friday’s activities at WGI, after the race Cornett-Ching and members of her RACE 101 team will jump into a car and make the nine hour trip west to compete in Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 200 ARCA event at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to race at Watkins Glen on Friday,” said Cornett-Ching. “My first road course race in ARCA went better than expected. We had a good car and made the most of my debut at New Jersey Motorsports Park in May. This week’s K&N race will help strengthen my resume, but also give me another opportunity to improve my road course skills.”

The 24-year-old’s ARCA road course debut at New Jersey went into the record books by becoming the highest finishing female on a road course when she took the checkered flag ninth, collecting her second of five top-10 finishes this season.

“Sarah is focused on Friday,” said car owner, crew chief and mentor Tony Blanchard. “She’s been utilizing the iRacing program to her advantage, while also taking time to go through video and YouTube clips of Watkins Glen. Our expectations are for Sarah to continue to learn these cars and new tracks, give 100 percent behind the wheel and see the checkered flag.”

When it comes to the driver of the No. 02 RACE 101 Chevrolet, she’d be ecstatic with a top-10 finish.

“There’s going to be a lot of great competition in Friday’s race, but I think if our race strategy works and we race the track, we should have a shot at contending for a top-10 finish. That would be a good boost towards our Saturday night race at Berlin Raceway.”
