The NASCAR XFINITY Series held their lone practice session of the day at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway for tonight’s Richmond 250. Dylan Lupton (@LuptonDylan) will make his second XFINTIY Series start driving the No. 25 Zaxby’s Chevrolet Camaro for Athenian Motorsports.

Last month, he made his debut at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway, finishing 19th after starting 23rd.

Lupton, a member of the NASCAR Next program has no prior NASCAR experience at the 0.75-mile paved oval, but has a late model start several years ago.

DYLAN LUPTON, NO. 25 ZAXBY’S CHEVROLET CAMARO

Team: Athenian Motorsports

Practice Time: 22.363 seconds at 120.735 MPH.

Practice Position: 30th

Fastest Lap: 48th

Number of Laps Completed: 106

Qualifying Draw: 19 / 42

“We struggled a little bit with our No. 25 Zaxby’s Chevrolet Camaro. The good thing is we made some progress during the end of practice and after debriefing we feel that we’ll have a good setup for qualifying and then for the race later tonight.

“It’s my first trip to Richmond in an XFINITY car, so getting me comfortable was important, but also getting car dialed in was just as important. Even though I was loose in (the corner), we would be good for the first couple of laps, then after our two consecutive 15 laps run, we would lose rear grip in the rear tires.

“Mike (Ford, crew chief) and the Athenian Motorsports guys will do a good job getting our car tuned for the race, so we can keep our goal of a top-15 finish in check.”

The Richmond 250 (250 laps / 187.5 miles) is the eighth of 34 events on the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule. Qualifying is set for later in the day, scheduled to lift off at 3:45 p.m. The 40-car starting field will take the green flag shortly after 7:00 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90. All times are local.
