ARCA RE/MAX Series Race No. 6, Menards 200 Presented by Federated Car Care, Toledo Speedway, Toledo, Ohio

Race Information: Event: Menards 200 by Federated Car Care, Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Toledo Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, May 16, at 3:30 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: .5-mile paved-oval.

Kentucky Recap: Patrick Sheltra returned to the track that awarded him his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series top-10 finish in 2007. Track seepage issues hindered the teams in practice but Sheltra was able to muster the 20th fastest time with ARCA qualifying being canceled, Sheltra would start the fifth race of the season from the sixth position. During the race’s 100-laps, Sheltra never fell out of the top-six and battled as high as third before succumbing to a tight-handling racecar to nap a sixth place run and securing his third top-10 finish of the season.

Returning To The Buckeye State: For the fifth time in his ARCA RE/MAX Series, Patrick Sheltra will take the green flag at Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon. In four prior efforts at the Northern Ohio short track, Sheltra has maneuvered two top-five finishes including a runner-up finish last May. Additionally, Sheltra posted an eighth place finish at Toledo Speedway in October 2007. Sheltra’s average finishing position is 10th at ARCA’s home-town facility.

Happy Birthday Sheltra Family: On Thursday, May 14, veteran ARCA driver Patrick Sheltra celebrated his 23rd birthday. Ironically, it is also the same birthday as his father Rick Sheltra. Both Father and Son spent the day in Indiantown , Florida celebrating with family and close friends.

The Buffalo’s On The Hood For The Rest Of ‘09: For their fifth time this year and third on the hood, Sheltra Motorsports is proud to have Buffalo Wings & Rings on-board as the primary marketing partner for Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care and for the rest of the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. Known for its “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Sheltra Motorsports will host guests from the establishment’s Lima, Ohio location for the sixth race of the season.

Autographs Anyone?: After his duties at the track on Sunday morning, Sheltra will participate in pre-race activities at the Toledo Speedway participating in an on-track autograph session from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. local time.

Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to bring Sheltra chassis number 8 to Toledo Speedway this weekend. The primary machine will be the same Chevrolet that Sheltra maneuvered to a second and fourth place finish at Toledo Speedway last year. It’s also responsible for a ninth place finish at Iowa Speedway last season in addition to an eighth place effort at Toledo Speedway in October 2007. Chassis number 5 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. That former Joe Gibbs Racing entry is the same automobile that Sheltra rocketed to his first victory at Salem Speedway earlier in April.

Points Check: After round five on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits fourth in the championship standings accumulating 1135 points. Sheltra is just 150 markers from returning to the top-spot. Car owner Grace Sheltra sits fifth in the car owner standings.

Keeping The Streak Alive: For 28 consecutive races, Sheltra Motorsports has fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that run in the top-10 (at one point or another) for all events reverting back to the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The team added their 28th race by finishing sixth under the Kentucky lights in last Saturday night’s Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150. During this period, the team has amassed one win, six top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes. The team’s best qualifying effort occurred at Rockingham Speedway in April where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of third. The team has led five races at Rockingham Speedway (2009), Salem Speedway (2009) Kansas Speedway (2008), Cayuga Motor Speedway (2008), and Talladega Superspeedway (2008), for a total of 109 laps.

Sheltra Motorsports, Toledo Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On Kentucky Speedway: “It was nice to get a top-10 finish after the awful practice we had. The car was good during the race, we just never could completely get rid of the tight condition. The team hung in there and we soldiered to another good run in Buffalo Wings & Rings backyard.”

On Toledo Speedway: “I’m very fond of Toledo Speedway. It’s a cool little short track that puts on a great show. We’ve run very well there in the past but I’m going there this weekend looking for our second win of the season.”

On The Secret To Short Track Racing: “You have to have patience and a lot of luck. In all seriousness, you just have to take your time and work with the car you have and make it better for the end of the race. You have to pick and choose your battles so you’re around when it counts. That’s what we’ve done for the past three times at Toledo and it’s paid off with good results.”

On His Birthday Celebration: “I had a good birthday. It was my dad’s birthday too, so it was nice to spend some time with him. I really didn’t do too much, just enjoyed myself and hung out with close friends and family. I hope my biggest birthday present is to celebrate in victory lane on Sunday.”

On The Point Standings: “We were able to make a little ground up in Kentucky, but we need to escape Toledo this weekend with a win or another top-five to really make a dent. The championship isn’t going to be easy to win this year, but we’re going to be a contender, you can bet on it!”

Sheltra Motorsports, Toledo Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On Kentucky: “It was a good run for the Sheltra Motorsports team. We proved that despite our challenges in practice, this team never gave up and we battled back right to the end. We’ll keep posting those top-10 finishes and the points will back us up too.”

On Toledo: “The team runs real well at Toledo Speedway. We finished second there last Spring, so we’re heading there this weekend looking to better ourselves by one. The guys say we have a good car, so I’m hoping we can be victorious on Sunday afternoon.”

On Being A Car Owner And Mother In The ARCA RE/MAX Series: “Well, it has had its challenges, but I wouldn’t trade it. I want the best for Patrick and our team. I enjoy coming to the races and being a car owner but I also really enjoy being Patrick’s number one fan in the stands. This is all he wants to do and for him to have grown and matured in the ARCA Series as he has is just incredible. I’m proud of him as a mom but I’m a proud car owner too. I know I have a great team.”
