SPARTA, Kentucky (May 11, 2009) - - It wasn’t a win, but a well deserved top-10 finish in Saturday night’s Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 was exactly the medicine the doctor ordered for Robb Brent and the Justin Allgaier Motorsports team at Kentucky Speedway.

The past two races forced disappointing mechanical failure finishes for the 2009 championship winning team but as the series steered towards one of Brent’s favorite race tracks, the team was looking forward to the fifth installment on the schedule.

A week before the race, the JAM team with Brent aboard participated in the open ARCA RE/MAX Series test with Brent garnishing some laps in his No. 36 Dodge Charger while searching for the ideal setup for the first of two races at the 1.5-mile speedway this year.

Saturday’s practice was postponed for several hours after seepage issues from massive rain storms on Friday. That kept Brent on his toes itching to climb behind the wheel of his No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger for a much needed two-hour run.

With practice finally starting just after 3:30 p.m. local, Brent and crew chief Bob Blount worked closely to dial in their machine. Brent made 33 laps around the 1.5-mile speedway in practice negotiating the 12th fastest lap of the session at 31.457 seconds at 171.663 miles per hour.

“Ah, we’re pretty satisfied with the car,” said Brent. “I know that testing proved to be the right move for us. I think our car will be good in the race, I just hope that everything goes our way so we can get to the checkered flag.”

With the delay in the start of practice, ARCA officials were forced to cancel qualifying which forced the starting field to bet set by 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner points which placed the No. 36 team 23rd on the starting grid.

At the start of the event, Brent quickly began his charge towards the front but his run would be halted by an early race caution.

Sitting inside the top-20 on the restart, Brent continued to inch his way up the leader board and had positioned himself nicely in the top-12 when the first and only set of pit stops came around lap 45.

Four tires and fuel were the priority of the stop with the team performing solidly which gave Brent respectable track position returning back to green flag conditions.

Over the race’s second-half, Brent quietly moved inside the top-10. Cautions became a factor as Brent’s machine came in on the long green flag runs. Still, Brent held off a hungry group of lead lap competitors to mount his second top-10 finish of the season.

“We needed this run,” said Brent after the race. “I’m proud of everyone on the JAM team for their hard work this weekend. Hopefully this is the start of good things to come. We gained some much needed points with this run and I think we can keep it going next weekend at Toledo.”

With his effort, Brent claimed his second top-10 finish in four starts at Kentucky Speedway with two straight eighth place runs.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is the first of two trips to Toledo Speedway for the running of the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care on Sunday, May 17. Toledo Speedway is the home track for the ARCA series. Brent will make his fifth start at the half-mile oval.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 21 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and seven top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.
