Robb Brent Returns To Familiar Territory At Pocono

LONG POND, Pennsylvania (June 3, 2009) - - It appears that Robb Brent’s first full season of competition in the ARCA RE/MAX Series is heading in the right direction after a hard-fought top-10 finish at Toledo Speedway. After a short break, Brent is ready to get back in the gas and head to Pocono Raceway for the running of the Pocono ARCA 200 on Saturday afternoon.

The three-turn triangle track is one of Brent’s favorite tracks on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit and after his Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team notched a victory there last year, Brent is obviously enthused about his chances this weekend.

“I cannot wait for this weekend,” Brent said. “Pocono Raceway is such a driver’s race track. It’s not a track that you can compare many tracks too. It’s just a neat place to race. I’ve had some success there, so I’m looking forward to keeping the strong runs alive.”

In his two starts at Pocono Raceway, Brent looks more like a veteran rather than a rookie. Making his Pocono debut last year, Brent qualified an impressive third, led 10 laps before finishing sixth. In the summer event, Brent racked up another top-10 starting spot and bettered it with an attractive fifth place run.

Going for his third start this weekend, Brent is hoping that the experience and notes he collected last year will translate over to JAM and keep his Pocono record in check.

“I had good cars at Pocono last year,” recalled Brent. “I know I’ll have good Dodge Chargers this weekend. You cannot win the race in the first forty laps, you have to keep out of trouble and be around for the final 10. I did that last year and walked away with some good finishes. I would like to win on Saturday. If we can’t I want to do whatever it will take to leave there with the car in one piece and another top-10 on the rundown.”

With his third top-10 finish of the year in the books at Toledo, Brent remains 14th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship chase but closed the gap to his season-goal of finishing the season in the top-10 and now sits just 110 markers from meeting his goal. All this despite missing the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February.

“Definitely the top-10 performances at Kentucky and Toledo have helped this team tremendously,” Brent added. “Bob (Blount, crew chief) has done a great job setting up the cars and we are connecting the dots together inside and outside the racecar. I’m looking forward to the busy month of June and hope we can continue to deliver good runs.”

Washington Township, Michigan based Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep will continue it’s long-time association with Brent and serve as the primary sponsor on Brent’s No. 36 Dodge Charger this weekend. Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep has backed Brent since his entrance into racing at the age of 16.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 22 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and eight top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

The Pocono ARCA 200 (80 laps / 200 miles) is the seventh of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 48th ARCA race at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, June 5 with an hour and forty minute practice session planned from 10:15 a.m. - 11:55 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 1:45 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Saturday, June 6 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will tape-delayed on SPEED and will air at 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The race however will be broadcasted live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
