MANSFIELD, Ohio (June 22, 2009) - - Robb Brent headed to Mansfield Motorsports Park this past weekend optimistic following his latest short track effort which he was able to produce a strong top-10 finish. Unfortunately, Brent was knocked out of Saturday night’s Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 not even a quarter of the way into the 200-lap event.

The weekend got off to a rocky start for the Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team as engine problems forced the team to pull out the backup car for qualifying and the race.

Before the engine issues, Brent had mounted the 23rd fastest lap with a time of 17.720 seconds at 101.580 miles per hour. “I’m not real sure what’s going on with the motor,” Brent explained. “We really didn’t have any warning. This place though is tricky. We had to revert to the backup car for the rest of the day. I’m not real sure what it has, so I’m cautiously optimistic for sure.”

In time trials, Brent was all smiles after laying down 17.242 seconds or 104.396 miles per hour putting the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger 19th on the starting grid.

“I’m really happy with that run, especially in a car with zero track time,” offered Brent. “I feel like that we’ll be pretty decent in the race and we’ll try and get a top-10 finish.”

From the drop of the green flag, Brent was maintaining his position solidly in the top-20.

Dealing with a comfortable Dodge Charger, Brent was using patience while moving up the ladder and had inched closer to the top-15 when his night took a dramatic turn on lap 43.

Racing in a strong pack of racecars, contact from another competitor sent the No. 36 machine hard into the turn three wall. The impact was strong enough to take all four wheels off the ground. Brent exited the car under his own power but later would be transported to a local hospital for a series of x-rays. The results were negative and Brent was released late Saturday night.

“That was the hardest hit of my racing career,” said Brent. “I don’t know what happened. It was good racing but the slightest little touch and the cars went around. I think there should have been a little give and take that early but that didn’t happen and the end result was a pretty torn up race car.”

He continued, “I’m pretty sore, so I’m glad we have a couple weeks off but I have to thank the team for building safe racecars and to ARCA for their quick response. I’m glad I was able to walk away.”

Brent finished the inaugural Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 presented by National Speed Sport News in the 25th position.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour is a trip out West to Iowa Speedway for the running of the Prairie Meadows 250 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The two-day show is set for Saturday, July 11 for another race under the lights. The JAM team plans to participate in the ARCA open test at the relatively new short track on Tuesday, June 30.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 25 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.
