SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (August 16, 2011) - - Set to make his 21st career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), young-gun Levi Youster is aiming towards accelerating to a career-best finish in the Allen Crowe 100.

With one previous start on the dirt at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds last September, the Oak Harbor, Ohio native enters the 14th race of the 2011 season looking to improve on his career-and season best finish which came earlier this season at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway where the 18-year old finished 14th after qualifying 18th.

A blessing for Youster this weekend will be the guidance and support of teammate Ron Cox, who is considered one of ARCA’s finest when it comes to dirt track racing. The Hixson Motorsports driver will lean on Cox, a teacher by trade to come to grasps with Springfield’s layout.

“It’s exciting to go back to a dirt track,” said Youster, who currently ranks a commendable 17th in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings despite missing three races. “The entire Hixson Motorsports team has worked hard since our off-week to put the final touches on our No. 23 Fox Reality / Hixson Construction Ford Fusion and make sure we’re coming as fully prepared as possible.”

Six of his 10 races this year have resulted in top-20 finishes in one of the most competitive seasons to date for the ARCA Racing Series tour. Yet, Youster looks to Sunday’s contest as another chance to acquire seat time while ultimately continue to earn the respect of his competition.

“With the resources and funding that we’ve had available to us this season, I’d said, I’m pretty pleased overall,” sounded Youster, a former Sprint Car driver. “Thanks to Wayne (Hixson, car owner) I’ve been able to spend the season in the shop working on the racecars and clinch to the priceless experience that comes along with that time.”

He added, “I think it will be a good weekend for Hixson Motorsports. Ron is always one of the favorites when these dirt races roll around, even before I was a part of the team. I’m hoping I can confirm with him after practice on what I’m feeling inside the racecar that will make us better not only for qualifying but for the race too. I would like to think that a top-10 would not be out of the question for us, but I would be more than glad to bring home another top-15 finish in our No. 23 Fox Reality / Hixson Construction Ford Fusion.”

When asked about his season thus far in 2011, Youster commented by saying, “Where do I begin? I’ve learned so much. I ran two races in 2009 and eight races last year and it looks like I’ll double that this year. Every time you get behind the wheel of a racecar, especially at my age, you learn something new. I’ve taken on new tracks that I’ve never been too and really had the privilege to work with a great group of guys. We’re all working hard so we can better ourselves on the track with better equipment, but that comes with time and sponsorship. For the meantime, we’ll compete with what we have and put our Hixson Motorsports as high up in the running order as we possibly can.”

Joining Youster and Cox this weekend on the Hixson Motorsports frontline will be Rob Jones who is entered in a third entry in the No. 29 Cox Masonry / Hixson Construction Chevrolet Impala.

The Allen Crowe 100 (100 laps / 100 miles) is the 14th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 29th ARCA event held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds is a one-day show. Practice begins Sunday, August 21 with a one hour practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. The field will take the green flag Sunday afternoon shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,326th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com.
