MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (July 19, 2011) - - INEX Legend Car Series driver Zach Knowles set his sights on Tuesday night’s edition of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in attack mode and ready to record his first top-10 finish.

After a recent break, Knowles returned to competition last Tuesday night in his No. 51 Bosch automobile. Utilizing Monday as a test session to prepare for his return, Knowles dialed in his race car to prepare for round seven.

Description: Zach KnowlesThe Houston, Texas native embraced a solid qualifying effort which resulted to a commendable run in his heat race. Locked into the feature, Knowles quickly and quietly began climbing his way through the running order utilizing the outside line to his advantage.

While it seemed like fate in his return that Knowles would be the one gaining attention, his charge towards the front would be stalled as the No. 51 Bosch automobile developed carburetor issues keeping the 21-year old at bay. Not willing to give up, Knowles completed all 20 laps and finished a respectable 15th.

With his motor problems now corrected, Knowles utilized the four hour practice session yesterday to carefully setup his race car and break-in his new carburetor all with the intentions of storming to the front tonight.

“I have a good feeling about tonight,” said Knowles. “It’s a shame that we had carburetor issues last week but I’m glad we were able to find the problem and get it corrected. The car feels good and I’m anxious to get in the saddle tonight. I’m focused and determined to get a top-10 tonight. Time is running out to get it done and I’m hoping tonight will be the start of maybe a trifecta, where we can close out the Summer Shootout with three top-10s in a row.”

Looking back at this year’s Shootout, Knowles doesn’t have any regrets and is focused on the present and the future. “Yeah, it’s been an up and down Summer Shootout; that’s for sure,” added Knowles. “Being involved in wrecks that are not of your doing can take its toll on you. I elected to sit out some races to refocus my racing efforts and concentrate on stuff for the future, but it’s all for the better, so I have zero regrets or hesitation, I’m just ready to race.”

Round eight of the 2011 edition of the Summer Shootout is set for tonight, July 19. Just three events remain in the seven-week battle with the concluding chapter approaching on Tuesday, July 26th.
