January 8, 2009

Fort Atkinson, WI (January 8, 2009) – The calendar may read 2009, but the Mid-American Stock Car Series will live in 2008 for one more day this Saturday, January 17. Mid-American will honor its competitors from the “Sweet 16” season with the annual awards banquet at the Wintergreen Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

The evening will begin with a speech from guest of honor Chuck Deery. Deery is the promoter of La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway where he oversees one of the most successful weekly shows in the country. He was named the promoter of the year by Racing Promoters Monthly in 2000. Deery was also honored by Tom Gillispie of Stock Car Racing Magazine as one of the best promoters in the country.

James Swan will be honored as MASCS champion for the third consecutive year and fourth time overall. Mark Kissinger will be honored as MASCS Rookie of the Year.

Kissinger will receive a complete radio set courtesy of Race-Comm.

Bud Collar of Race-Comm, who began his work with race radios in 1978, will provide radios for Mid-American officials in 2009. Collar provides his services at Wisconsin International Raceway, Slinger Speedway and Norway Speedway. Any competitors who wish to speak with Collar about radios for the 2009 season can contact Race-Comm via e-mail at bcollar@tds.net or by phone by calling 920-830-8560.

Several other contingency awards will be given to MASCS competitors who appeared in 75% of the events in 2008 and have signed up for membership in 2009. Those prizes include two Miller Welders, a Five Star body and a new ARP “NGB” body.

Many, many more prizes will be available for drivers and attendees thanks to the generosity of Mid-American’s fantastic sponsors.

Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. with awards to follow. Entertainment will be provided afterward. Rooms at the Wintergreen Resort are still available and range from $69 a night when you mention the Mid-American Stock Car Series.
