Springfield, IL,(August 17, 2008)-Justin Allgaier went to his home track, the Springfield Mile, for the running of the Allen Crowe 100 ARCA RE/MAX Series race Sunday, August 17 in hopes of repeating his 2006 victory at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Although handling hampered the thoughts of a win, he pulled off a sixth place finish after pitting three times for adjustments on the No. 16 Hoosier Midwest-AG Tech-Schlossers Chevrolet.

Allgaier started the 100 lap race in the ninth place position after ARCA SIM Pole qualifying earlier that day and quickly gained positions on the track once the race began. Soon after, Allgaier reported in that the car lacked drive off the exit of the turns forcing him to come to the pits for several sets of adjustments. The last set of adjustments seemed to help the most with Allgaier picking up five positions in 10 laps late in the race.

Allgaier dropped back to the seventh place position for the green/white/checkered restart to finish the race but maneuvered his way around picking up the sixth place position.

“We struggled with some corner issues today,” Allgaier said. “We pitted three times and were able to make some gains on the car during the race. The car itself was really good entering and through the middle of the corner but we lacked drive off. We had a pretty solid point’s day with finishing sixth. It’s pretty disappointing though because we weren’t as good as we should have been today. We’ll take the next week off to prepare for DuQuoin and see what we can do there.”

In 2008 Allgaier has posted three wins, nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. He currently sits in the fourth place position in the championship point’s battle 215 points out of the lead after the 15th race of the 21 race ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series is off until Labor Day Weekend where they will take to the track at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for the running of the Southern Illinois 100 Monday, September 1, 2008.
