INDIANTOWN, Florida (November 21, 2007) - - As the Thanksgiving Holiday quickly approaches every family has their tradition and for ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra his tradition is a little unique but one that suits him perfectly and a tradition he plans to continue for many years to come.

After closing out his 2007 race season which included a full-time ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, limited dirt late model events and his debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the 21-year old rising star has put away his driving suit and shoes for now and pulled out his hunting clothes and headed to the woods of Alabama .

Every Thanksgiving, Sheltra and his family steer to Eufaula , Alabama for a couple days of rest and relaxation in the woods before gathering at a nearby hotel with friends surrounding the table and enjoying the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

“I wouldn’t change our Thanksgiving tradition for anyone,” explained Sheltra, a native of Indiantown , Florida . “Our Thanksgiving tradition is perfect for my family. We enjoy spending this time together and will enjoy the Holiday season together, but we’ve done this as long as I can remember. It’s how the Sheltra’s spend their Thanksgiving.”

With temperatures expected to be near freezing on Thanksgiving morning, Sheltra will climb into his tree stand which ironically he set up between the Talladega ARCA RE/MAX Series test and the ARCA RE/MAX Series 250 event and do what he loves best during the off-season, hunt.

“It’s relaxing,” added Sheltra. “It’s even better if you can find hunt something down, but there is no noise and it’s a chance for me to reflect on a lot of things. I’m looking forward to the time. We’ll spend most of the day in the woods then we’ll head back to the hotel just after sunset where we have a great cook who prepares our Thanksgiving feast. It’s a special time for me; I look forward to it every year.”

He added, “We have two hunting grounds in Alabama and Texas . We’ll be going back and forth between the two leading up to Christmas. We’ll be in Alabama for Thanksgiving then head back for a few days then off to Texas for some more hunting. I’ll be heading to the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet from our hunting grounds outside of San Antonio , Texas . It really makes the time of not being in a racecar go extremely fast.”

While Sheltra’s Holiday tradition may be a little different from everyone else’s Sheltra is quick to point out that he doesn’t forget what the Thanksgiving tradition is all about.

“I’m extremely thankful this year, I can tell you that. There are a lot of people that have helped me and I don’t forget that. I’ll be thanking a lot of people on Thursday. Thanksgiving though isn’t the only day to give thanks. I plan to give thanks to everyone as often as I can. It just means a little more to hear it on Thanksgiving!”

Sheltra Motorsports would like to wish ARCA, our sponsors, friends and fans a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Stay tuned as Sheltra Motorsports will offer a race fan the perfect hunting opportunity with Patrick Sheltra and his family in January 2008. The proceeds will benefit the Focus Motorsports Ministries.
