Patrick Sheltra Looks For Another Top-Five In Milwaukee

WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin (August 23, 2007) - - Fresh off a third place finish last Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Patrick Sheltra heads to the famed Milwaukee Mile looking to keep his stretch alive and nail his third top-five finish of the season Sunday afternoon.

The Sheltra Motorsports team has reeled in some late season momentum which has seen Sheltra and his car owner and mother Grace Sheltra rise in the championship standings.

Even though the experienced dirt racer has never had the opportunity to compete at The Milwaukee Mile, Sheltra is not letting the lack of track time step in his way and he plans to take the track by storm this weekend.

“We’re still feeling the wave of excitement from Springfield , but it’s time to get back to business,” said Sheltra. “I’m extremely proud of everything my Sheltra Motorsports team has done these past couple of races. We’ve really made an impact on the series here recently and we’re looking forward to keeping it up this weekend in Milwaukee .”

“I’ve never had the pleasure of racing at The Milwaukee Mile, but I’m hoping it’s a track that I can adapt to quickly. There’s been a lot of tracks such as USA International Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, Berlin Raceway and Illinois State Fairgrounds that I ran very competitive in on my first try; I hope this is another weekend that follows those tracks.”

Sheltra contributes his recent string of strong performances to the dedication and effort of his Sheltra Motorsports team.

“Without the team, there’s no racecar or driver,” Sheltra added. “John Hayden, my crew chief is a former ARCA driver, so he has a good baseline for what a driver needs in a car. Keith Strunk, the team manager also does a great job in assisting John and the guys follow their lead. It took us a little while to shake the boat, but now our performances are strong and we’re showing it on the track.”

Currently occupying the sixth position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship standings, the Florida native knows another top-five run like he had last Sunday will move him into his season’s goal of finishing inside the first half.

“We’re just 85 points from taking the fifth position,” explained Sheltra. “It’s not going to be an easy position to grab, but we’re going to do our best. If we keep having finishes like we had last weekend, we’re bound to leap into the top-five in the next couple of weeks. At the start of the season, it didn’t even appear that this goal was possible, but there’s always some light at the end of the tunnel, we just have to keep digging.”

Continuing their sponsorship of Sheltra's No. 60 entry this weekend is CP Concrete Products, US Construction, SawHorse Outfitters, Brady Ranch and FloraGanics.

The Governor’s Cup 200 (200 laps/200 miles) is the 17th of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 10th ARCA race held at The Milwaukee Mile is a two day show. Practice begins Saturday August 25 with an hour and 15 minute session planned from 1:00pm-2:15pm. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 5:15pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag Sunday August 26 shortly after 12:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com.
