Dexter Bean Eyes Pocono Victory

“Wisconsin Native Searching For First Victory This Weekend”

POCONO, Pennsylvania (Wednesday, August 1, 2007) - - Dexter Bean has been patiently waiting to return to the 2.5-mile track of Pocono Raceway. In June, Bean nearly pulled an upset by capturing his first career ARCA RE/MAX Series win, instead the sophomore driver couldn’t hold off a hard charging NASCAR team and would be forced to settle for second.

But as Saturday’s Pennsylvania 200 quickly approaches, Bean returns with more horsepower, the same car and some unfinished justice.

“I can’t wait to get back to Pocono Raceway,” said driver Dexter Bean. “It’s probably one of my favorite tracks on the schedule. We’ve proven time and time again, we are very competitive there. This weekend, we’re going back to Pocono to finish what we started and we hope that we can pull the upset and become a first time winner this season.”

The BlackJack Racing team is bringing the same automobile they capitalized with their second top-five finish of the season last month. Bean reflects the car as one of the best in his stable and while it remained on the sidelines for the last event at Kentucky Speedway, Bean knows the team made the right choice.

“While we didn’t have the best run at Kentucky Speedway, we’re bringing probably the best car we have this weekend. It’s the same car that we ran every time we’ve competed with at Pocono and the results have been gratifying. We thought about taking this car to Kentucky, but we knew that race had the potential to show some carnage, so we opted it as a backup. Everything worked out.”

Just passed the halfway mark in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season, Bean sits fourth in the championship standings just 55 points from third place Bobby Gerhart and 100 markers from second place held by Michael McDowell. Bean knows that this weekend’s event stands out as a huge opportunity to make up some heavy ground as he tries to bid for his first driving championship.

“We were able to gain a lot of points in June. We’re looking to come do the same again this weekend. In my eyes, this championship is not over. I honestly believe that the first five drivers realistically have a shot at the championship. We’re going to do everything in our power to gain some points this weekend and stay in this fight.”

While BlackJack Racing is still searching for additional sponsorship of Bean's No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the team is glad to have local longtime supporter Five Star Telecom on board as an associate sponsor.

Since their beginning in 1973, FST (Five Star Telecom), a long-time supporter of Bean's racing career has become one of the largest interconnect companies in the Upper Midwest, with multiple locations serving the tri-state area.

Rolling into Pocono, Dexter Bean has 40 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with four-top fives finishes and 11 top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of second at Salem Speedway and Pocono Raceway (April 2007 and June 2007). He owns the 2006 ARCA SIM Factory pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best speedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 138 laps in six races.

BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact BlackJack Racing at david@mwt.net or 608.634.4242.

The Pennsylvania 200 (80 laps/200 miles) is the 14 of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 45th ARCA race held at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, August 3 with an hour and 45 minute (10:15am-11:55am) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 1:45pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag on Saturday, August 4 shortly after 1:00pm Local Time with live coverage on SPEED. Additional race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
