LAS VEGAS --
The family that races together, stays together. Unfortunately in many cases, Mom and Dad may be racing their doorslammer at one track while the only Jr. Dragster league available for the kids is racing at another track the same day. To help keep racing families together, the Pacific Street Car Association announced Wednesday that two Jr. Dragster classes (8-12 year old and 13-18 year old) are scheduled to participate in all 2012 PSCA shows. The Jr. Dragsters will race prior to and after the other PSCA classes at each event and will be scheduled as not to affect the flow of the other PSCA classes.

Exact rules and regulations for the two classes will be released soon.

“Several racing families have expressed an interest in finding a way to allow both the parents and the kids to participate in the PSCA events," said Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway vice president of racing operations.  "It's extremely difficult for both the kids and parents to race at the same time due to the demands of jumping in and out of one car while working on the other.  With this format, the parents can focus their efforts on the kid's racing either before or after a day of racing and make the weekend more enjoyable for everyone."

Both classes will compete for race trophies and prizes. Jr. Dragster racers will also compete for event points that will be counted toward a class champion at the end of the season.

“I was going to have to miss several events or make a very tough decision when a PSCA and a Jr race fell on the same weekend this year,” Ron Weems, 2011 PSCA Outlaw 10.5 Champion, said. "My Daughter Aliyah will compete at the first race and soon when my son RJ is old enough he will as well. Racing is a family sport, and I'm excited to see the PSCA make this move"
