Fisichella dominate at Sepang

Fisichella captured Sunday's Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang Circuit. It is the Italian's first of the season and third of his F1 career.

Giancarlo Fisichella converts his third Formula 1 pole into his third Formula One victory as Renault dominated at Sepang. Felipe Massa and Ralf Schumacher come from the back row to score points, while Kimi Raikkonen goes out on lap one after a tangle with Christian Klien.

The Championship contender Kimi Raikkonen was tagged from the rear by Red Bull Racing's Christian Klien and the McLaren driver's day was quickly over.

Then Alonso made a great move passing four cars on the way to the first turn. Fisichella owned a 4.2-second lead over Button and 13.5 seconds over his teammate after 10 laps.

Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella must have got the word because on the next few laps he matched Alonso's times and the margin settled in at about eight seconds. However, was not giving up and posted fastest lap of the day to close to within 9.9 seconds with still 11 laps to go. It was the first one-two finish for Renault in 24 years.
