It appears thieves briefly made off with a truck carrying the podium and other equipment used as part of U.S. President Barack Obama current tour.

A local television station in the U.S. state of Virginia first reported the truck was stolen from a hotel parking lot in the city of Richmond. WWBT-TV said the truck was later recovered in the parking lot of another hotel near Richmond International Airport.

The television station said the truck contained the podium, presidential seals and sound equipment for use during Mr. Obama's upcoming visit.

A U.S. government agency confirmed a government vehicle was stolen and then recovered.

The Defense Information Systems Agency said no classified or sensitive information was inside the vehicle.

The DISA statement also said “We take incidents such as this very seriously, and a formal investigation is continuing.”
