“After Weekend Off; Silas Ready To Get Busy”

NEWTON, Iowa (May 29, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Bryan Silas doesn’t have the fondest memories of Iowa Speedway, but the development driver for Fast Track Racing looks to change his mentality on the new track with a thundering performance in Saturday’s Prairie Meadows 250.

Silas heads to Iowa on the heels of a positive 15th place finish at Toledo Speedway two weeks ago. His team led by two-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Andy Hillenburg were unable to overcome problems on pit road but soldiered on during a caution-filled event to record their best finish since Salem Speedway in April.

Now, the series returns West to Newton , Iowa for the running of the ninth event on the 2007 schedule. Silas would like nothing more than to record his third top-10 finish of the season and inch his way forward in the point standings.

“If we can turn the same type of performance we did at Toledo without the problems on pit road I will be ecstatic,” said Silas. “I know we are a rookie team and we’re going to have some problems along the way, but I’m proud of my guys for the bad luck we overcame from practice. To run the way we did in Toledo was impressive and we want to prove it was no fluke with the same type of run on Saturday night.”

The last time Silas ran under the lights in a short track race, he recorded his first top-10 finish of his career at USA International Speedway ( Lakeland ). Hoping to rekindle the magic from that night, Silas looks to score a career-best finish. “A seventh is my best run to date this season. We are better than that. We have the equipment of lifting this team into top-five finishes and that’s what we are looking for this weekend.”

In his last go-around at Iowa Speedway, it was a bumpy one for the rookie. After qualifying mid-pack, Silas stayed focused and on his game but a late wreck exited the team from competition. The Stuart, Florida native says he has rejuvenated confidence heading into Saturday’s festivities.

“We had a solid run going last year, up until the end,” he recalled. “Andy and the guys gave me a good car; we just couldn’t make all the laps. This year we have no choice but to make all the laps to keep our championship hopes alive. We need to gain some ground in the standings and no doubt a good finish will help us.”

Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will all sponsor the No. 11 Chevrolet in the second ARS event held at Iowa Speedway.

“Without our sponsors, we would not be here,” Silas mentioned. “They have been extra supportive of our rookie season. We’ve had some good run spoiled by some misfortunate. Everyone deserves a good run on Saturday night, I plan to do everything to make that happen.”

Heading into Iowa, Silas has 14 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of eighth at Salem Speedway (April 2007) while holding an additional top-10 performance at USA International Speedway (March 2007). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of eighth at Berlin Raceway (July 2006). A 16th place qualifying effort at Kansas Speedway (April 2007) and Talladega Superspeedway (October 2006) is Silas’s best speedway run to date.

The Prairie Meadows 250 (200 laps/168 miles) is the ninth of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. This second annual Prairie Meadows 250 is a one day show. Practice begins Saturday, June 2 with a two hour (11:30am-1:30pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag under the lights beginning at 8:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com
