Place
A former race course in Carpentersville, Illinois. Opened in 1958.
It was a 3.27 mile asphalt-paved road course, capable of being shortened to 2.25 miles by a cutoff between the front stretch and Len's Hairpin. 32' wide, with uphill and downhill sections and a 4000' straight.
The track included all types of turns, including a 180-degree turn called the Monza Wall, just before the start/finish line.
Other section names include:
Greg's Corkscrew at the northeast corner of the track
Whtehouse Bend between Greg's Corkscrew and an uphill climb leading to Len's Hairpin
Len's Hairpin between the hill climb and the Serpentine
Serpentine, a curving section of track between Len's Hairpin and Carl's Bend
Emil's Pit in the infield along the end of the Serpentine near Carl's Bend
Carl's Bend between the Serpentine and Steffan's Straight at the southeast corner of the track
Steffan's Straight along the south edge of the track and south of Steffan's Lake in the infield
Doane's Corner at the northwest corner of the track
The track was bordered by Illinois Route 31 to the east, Sleepy Hollow Road to the west, and Huntley Road to the south.
After the track was closed, it was converted into a Kane County/Dundee Township park called Raceway Woods. In 2009 the park/track was host to Meadowdale, Motorsports & Memories, a classic car show.

Due to the enormous volume of information available most of the lists on the site are works in progress. They are great for seeing what information or products are available or what events have happened but the absence of information or a line item on a list should not be interpreted that something did not exist or did not happen. It probably just means we haven't gotten around to adding it yet.
