Distracted Driving Awareness Month National Bookmobile Day is celebrated the Wednesday of National Library Week. National Work Zone Awareness Week: An event held at the beginning of construction season by partnerships of state departments of transportation, road safety organizations, and private companies with the first official events held in 2000.

The first Saturday of May is International Female Ride Day. It was founded by Vicki Gray. National Defense Transportation Day: Established as the third Friday in May by an act of Congress in 1957. In 1962 Congress would expand this to include the entire week in which the third Friday falls as National Transportation Week. In 2003 the NASCAR Foundation established NASCAR Day on the third Friday of each May. In 2019 Pilot Flying J established the last Friday before Memorial Day as National Road Trip Day. The third Saturday in September is Child Passenger Safety Week. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration promotes the fourth Saturday in September as National Seat Check Saturday.
