Jaguar steps out of stuffy image with new XKR-S

In Hollywood films, the easiest way to dispense of an image problem always involves some sort of make over involving video clips of extreme exercise, a tired looking individual nursing a surgical procedure, being hidden from a mirror whilst having their hair chopped and then some sort of big reveal to friends and family afterwards.

But how would you refresh your image and make an entrance if you were a car manufacturer with a reputation for elegant, expensive but slightly stuffy cars?

Jaguar has come up with a pretty compelling answer in the form of its new Jaguar XKR-S. It's the XJ200 supercar of the early 1990s – but with out a doubt a hell of a bit better. And faster. Much faster. In fact this new Jaguar is the fastest of any other production car to have ever rolled out of the Jaguar car factory.

Armed with a monstrous, powerful five-litre V8 engine, the new XKR-S barks out up to 550 horse power at 6500rpm and with expensive taste and a powerful engine you can guarantee only a slight worry when it comes to the Jaguar Servicing. One review has pointed out that the new Jaguar has roughly seven Citroen C1s parked under the hood so (not that Jaguar owners probably would have to worry about money) this indeed would put you on alert.

Gearchanges are near-instantaneous with the six-speed automatic transmission (operated by paddle shift if the car is being driven manually). The British car company predicts that it will go from a complete standstill to 60mph in a tiny 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 184mph.

Remarkably, this performance does not necessarily equate to needing to stop at every second fuel station either. Testing figures whilst running were noted at 15mpg in the city and 22mpg on the open highway so this new Jaguar car won't exactly give all those C1s stuffed under the bonnet anything to worry about. It still manages to stop just short of being over-thirsty.

Ride quality is fantastic, and the aerodynamic enhancements help contribute to the car's overall stability. As you'd expect from a car in this slightly stuffy, money-to-burn class, the workmanship levels are extremely high throughout ensuring that you won't be constantly rolling into Jaguar Servicing Leicester waving your warranty in the air.
