Toyota Resumes Production at All Domestic Plants

VOA Breaking News (Voice of America)
April 18, 2011 at 3:05 am

Toyota Motor Corporation said Monday it has resumed manufacturing operations at all of its domestic plants for the first time since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that hit northeastern Japan.

But, the world's largest car-maker said output levels will be about half of normal for the time being because of ongoing difficulties in parts procurement.

The magnitude-9.0 earthquake and following tsunami destroyed parts factories in northeastern Japan, causing severe shortages of parts.

Toyota resumed commercial shipment of vehicles Saturday from the damaged port of Sendai.
