New Zealand's Casey Stoner was riding for something special as he crossed the finish line for Repsol Honda with first place in the first race of the 2011 MotoGPseason. MotoGP is the premier motorcycle racing circuit and World Championship - an eighteen race series crossing fourteen countries and four continents, including the Laguna Seca Red Bull Championship in Monterey, Ca., this July. With recent events in Japan, the Japan Grand Prix events scheduled for October 2nd have been postponed until further notice.

The entire MotoGP community has expressed their support and concern to help those in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami. Seventeen (17) riders from the MotoGP family have signed a special shirt with the message, "We x(for) Japan." This t-shirt will be offered at several different stops on the MotoGP racing circuit as well as the official MotoGP website: weforjapan.motogp.com. Funds collected during this initiative will go to a Japanese humanitarian charity during the Japan Grand Prix, currently scheduled to take place on October 2nd. Family PowerSports supports any and all of the relief efforts currently happening in the motorcycle, motocross, and ATV communities.

After winning the kickoff of the 2011 MotoGP season, Repsol Honda's championship rider, Casey Stoner, said, "…after the events we've seen in Japan… from colleagues in Honda… our hearts and thoughts are with everyone in Japan. I hope they can find the courage to keep fighting and get through this period to help rebuild their lives."

MotoGP is one of the biggest racing series in motorsports. Grand Prix championship events have taken place in every corner of the world over the last 60-plus years. Nearly 2.5 million people came to watch MotoGP events during its 2010 championship season. The first few stops on the 2011 circuit include Spain, Portugal, France, and Great Britain. The current MotoGP world champion is Yamaha's star rider, Jorge Lorenzo, who claimed his first title with some big Grand Prix victories.

Something to look for with MotoGP are "wildcard entries," who are usually local riders competing in a world-class motorcycle event. That can be a real genuinely mind-blowing experience for some of these riders who want to ride professionally but have to adhere to their day-to-day needs and responsibilities. Riding in the "wildcard" MotoGP events can be the thrill of a lifetime. This season welcomes any and all newcomers to try their skills.

MotoGP helps and supports Japan. Ride safely.
