ARCA Point’s Leader Patrick Sheltra Psyched About Kansas

“Sheltra Gunning For Win No. 3 Of 2010; Championship Still Biggest Focus”

KANSAS CITY, Kansas (September 28, 2010) - - After a one-week break in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards schedule, Patrick Sheltra is ready to get back to business in his No. 60 Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida / Jones Group International Toyota Camry with just two events remaining on the 2010 calendar including Thursday afternoon’s Kansas Lottery 150 at Kansas Speedway.

Sheltra, 24 will be the first to tell you that he has been itching to get back to racing. Over the course of the past month or so, Sheltra has eclipsed two wins, four top-fives and five top-10 finishes; just enough to keep the Sheltra Motorsports team atop of the ARCA Racing Series championship standings.

The Indiantown, Florida native returns to Kansas Speedway looking to make his fourth ARCA start at the extremely fast 1.5-mile speed plant. The Sheltra Motorsports team led by veteran crew chief Jon Wolfe will invade Kansas City armed with chassis number 19, the same Toyota Camry that Sheltra rocketed to his first speedway victory on August 27 at Chicagoland Speedway.

In Sheltra’s previous three outings at Kansas, Sheltra has finished no worse than 12th and mounted a eighth place finish in 2008 after starting eighth. Last year, Sheltra recovered from an early race incident to score a noteworthy 11th place run.

“I’ve been anxious to get back to racing,” said Sheltra, who has mastered an impressive 10 top-fives and 15 top-10 finishes in 18 races thus far this season. “When you’ve run as well as we have lately, we really didn’t want to see a break. Nonetheless the downtime away from the track has allowed the shop to stay very busy preparing not only for this week at Kansas but next weekend at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway as well.”

With Kansas Speedway matching nearly identical features to Chicagoland Speedway, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based operation elected not to participate in the open test last week but the ARCA pro isn’t worried about the lack of track time. The avid hunter believes his Sheltra Motorsports team can rekindle the magic they had for the Ansell Protective Gloves 150 at Chicagoland Speedway.

“We definitely thought about testing at Kansas,” Sheltra admitted. “After much thought, we decided to stick with our game plan and do exactly what we did with Chicagoland. The tracks are virtually identical. Sure, Kansas is not the exact duplicate of Chicagoland Speedway but we feel very confident in our setup for this week and feel that another win on a speedway is on the horizon for our team.”

Not only is Sheltra chasing his dream of an ARCA Racing Series driver’s championship, but the team is fighting for another title which will come to a conclusion Thursday at Kansas Speedway.

Sheltra Motorsports currently leads Win-Tron Racing (No. 32) by 90 markers in the ARCA Racing Series Superspeedway Challenge. The Hoosier Superspeedway Challenge is awarded to the best team that carries an average finish throughout the year on a speedway (tracks in lengths of 1.5-mile and higher). Sheltra’s performance on the bigger tracks have been nothing but stellar. In the seven speedway races this season, Sheltra has accumulated one win, five top-fives and seven top-10 runs enabling the healthy gap between Minnesota’s Win-Tron Racing and their driver Justin Marks.

“The Hoosier Superspeedway Challenge is a big deal,” sounded Sheltra. “For our family-owned team to be leading the standings with just one race remaining says a lot. In the past, our “bigger” track stuff hasn’t been where we felt where it needs to be. This year, with the hard work and determination of the Sheltra Motorsports team, we’ve found ourselves in contention. We’re aiming for the big trophy next weekend at Rockingham, but we would be very much honored to bring home the Hoosier Superspeedway Challenge trophy on Thursday.”

For the first time this season, Sheltra Motorsports will be boasting the logos of the Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida and Jones Group International aboard their Japanese nameplate as the primary marketing partners for Sheltra’s 85th career ARCA start.

Before turning to his duties on Thursday, Sheltra will make a stop at the Cabela’s (10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kansas 66111, across from France Family Drive adjacent to Kansas Speedway; 913.328.0322) On Wednesday, September 29th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. local for a meet and greet and an autograph session.

Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages are still available for the remainder of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR seasons for Patrick Sheltra. Speedway (April 2009), the Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2010) and Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 20 top-fives and posted 37 top-10 finishes. A second place qualifying effort at Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field 10 times for 276 laps.

The Kansas Lottery 150 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the 19th of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards schedule. The 10th ARCA race held at Kansas is a one-day show. Practice begins Thursday, September 30 with a two hour practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be broadcasted live on SPEED with additional broadcast coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,312 race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards since it was formed in 1953 available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com.
