AMHERSTBURG, Ontario Canada (August 10, 2010) - - ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards (ARS) driver Patrick Sheltra was uninjured in a motor vehicle accident Tuesday near Amherstburg, Ontario Canada.

Sheltra, who currently sits fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings, just 60 markers from first on the heels of a second-place finish in the most recent contest at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway Saturday night left the scene of the accident under his own power.

Terry Jones, a part-time ARCA Racing Series competitor for Jones Group International was a passenger with Sheltra, but was also unharmed in the collision.

“Patrick and Terry are fine,” said Chris Knight, Director of Public Communications for Sheltra Motorsports. “Patrick is sore from the impact but is in otherwise great spirits. In no way is today’s incident expected to keep him from competing in Sunday afternoon’s ARCA race from New Jersey Motorsports Park.”

Additional information will be released should any significant circumstances transpire.

In 2010, Sheltra has competed in 12 races and has posted six top-fives including two-runner up finishes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and Berlin (Mich.) Raceway respectively while hoisting a series’ best 10 top-10 finishes overall.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards is their annual trip to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) for the running of the third annual Garden State ARCA 150 presented by American Red Cross. The trip to Millville, New Jersey is the second and final road course event of the season. Sheltra will make his third career start 2.25 mile paved road course and hopes to better his personal best seventh place finish after starting eighth in last September’s South Jersey Building Trades 150.

Sheltra has 79 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 16 top-fives and posted 32 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) and Michigan International Speedway (June 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field seven times for 173 laps.
