STEVE ARPIN PICKS UP TWO MORE TOP-10 ARCA RE/MAX SERIES FINISHES OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA (September 8, 2009) Steve Arpin scored a pair of top-ten runs over the holiday weekend for the Pinewood Sports and Marine team in ARCA RE/MAX Series action at Toledo, Ohio and DuQuoin, Illinois. The talented Canadian stock car racer might have had an even more productive weekend had he not been taken out of contention for a win in the Friday night race at Toledo, but Arpin managed to rally back through the field to salvage a solid tenth-place result when the checkered flag flew. On Monday at the DuQuoin mile dirt oval Arpin was able to avoid any major incidents and race through the field to a ninth-place finish, his second top-ten result in just three days aboard the Venturini Motorsports owned ride for the Fort Frances, Ontario driver.

'We had a great car on Friday at Toledo, I was just rolling early in the race running fourth and taking care of my equipment and when we got to lapped traffic it got pretty tight. I was getting through there great and just ended up getting turned around by the 32 car,' said Arpin. 'We came back through there strong after the restart and stayed out of trouble all the way back up to the top ten,' says Arpin on the incident and resulting ruling by officials that sent him to the rear of the field, 'I feel like we ended up on the short end of the stick with how the call was made, but the ARCA officials were great about it afterwards and assured us that it was a mistake on their part. It's just short track racing and things get pretty wild out on the track.'

Arpin's Friday night run in the Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet was disappointing for the team knowing that the Pinewood Sports & Marine sponsored ride had a legitimate shot at the win prior to being spun by Beau Slocomb early in the race.

'To come back with a top-ten with everything that happened in that race just shows the caliber of team we are,' Arpin pointed out following the Friday night slugfest at Toledo. 'We are here to win races and Billy (Venturini) and the guys are putting great cars under me and we just need a little turn of good fortune for everything to fall into place.'

The Labor Day run at DuQuoin saw Arpin take the Pinewood Sports / Jeff Taylor backed ride to ninth at the finish after starting in the twenty-third sport in the challenging day on the dirt mile oval at the Southern Illinois Fairgrounds. By concluding the long holiday weekend schedule of racing with the pair of top-ten runs, Arpin remains well inside the top-ten of the national championship driver standings on the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

In Arpin’s role with Venturini Motorsports the team has performed with noted strong results. Arpin’s associates and sponsors at Pinewood Sports & Marine, and long-time sponsor and dirt racing partner Jeff Taylor with his Jeff Taylor Chassis for Open Wheel Modified racers continue to help fuel the ARCA program for the Fort Frances, Ontario racer. Arpin's overall racing efforts also continue to involve support from Lo-N-Bro Enterprises and SpeedShop (Rochester, Minnesota) as continuing partners in the team efforts.
