He was born July 22, 1944, in Chicago to John E. and Esther Jane (Meyer) Ducey. On Nov. 28, 1964, he married Verlene M. Rousey at Nativity Lutheran Church in Wonder Lake.

Christopher had worked for Jepsen Tire Company and Crystal Lake Tire and Battery. He belonged to CAATS (Centerville Antique Auto Touring Society). Family and friends are sure that if there are any '54 Ford convertibles in heaven, he will be driving one.

Survivors include his wife of more than 47 years; daughter, Jacquelin (Michael) Amber of Elkhorn, Wis.; two grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua; a sister, Polly Ducey of New York, N.Y.; many brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jon Ducey; and a sister, Penelope Ducey.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Asbury, Dr. Apurva Desai and staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Walter Stadler and oncology clinical trial nurses at the University of Chicago, and the wonderful care provided by Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois for helping Chris through his five-year journey battling prostate cancer. A heartfelt thank you to Chris' honorary brother and friend of 54 years John Walczak and wife Shelly and family, who cannot be thanked enough.

A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Interment will be private.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401, or to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.

I knew Chris when he worked at Jepsen Tire. In that environment he was the epitome of what we all should aspire to be; a genuinely good person. It was always a refreshing moment in a long afternoon when he popped his head through the window between the shop and the office; I never saw him in a bad mood or heard him utter a negative word about anyone. Many condolences to his family for their great loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I learned a lot from Chris,I worked with him at Jepsen side by side for years. We had to stop at 12:00 everyday to listen to the rest of the story. I'll never forget him. I'm part car nut today because of Chris. Thank you. God be with you.
