Paige, Nash, Haynes and Oldsmobile Companies Announce Lower Rates on Eve of Show.

KEEN COMPETITION IN 1922

A Drop of $680 in One Model—Reduction by Other Makers Anticipated.

Another sharp reduction was announced yesterday in automobile prices and it is rumored that before or during the national show week several more well-known makes will reach lower price levels. The show will open next Saturday in the Grand Central Palace. The annoucements yesterday include the Paige, Nash, Haynes and Oldsmobile cars. A week ago reductions were made by the Cadillac, Buick, Hudson and Essex cars. These new prices furnish a clear indication of the keen competition which will characterize the coming year in the motor car industry.

In the Paige cars the reductions cover both the small and large chassis types. On the large six-cylinder type, the seven-passenger touring car shows a reduction of $680, the new price being $2,195; a similar cut is made on the limousine, the new price of which is now $3,350. The seven-passenger sedan will now cost $3,155, a reduction of $675. The largest cut is made on the four-passenger sport roadster, being reduced by $730, the new rate being $2,245.

The Nash car reductions involve both the four and six cylinder models. In the six-cylinder class the five and seven-passenger touring cars are lowered by $305 and $335, respectively, the new prices being $1,390 and $1,540. The sedan shows a cut of $505, the new price being $2,390, and the coupe comes down to $2,090, a reduction of $560. The new price for the roadster comes down to $2,650, a reduction of $560.

The Haynes car reductions bring four and seven passenger touring cars to $2,395, the sedan and suburban to $3,395, and the brougham to $3,095. On the roadster and touring car the reduction is $190, the new prices being $1,645 and $1,595, respectively. The sedan is reduced by $240, the new price being $2,595.

The reductions on the Oldsmobile include only a few models. On the light eight-cylinder sedan a reduction of $130 is made, the new price being $2,295, the light eight-cylinder coupe comes down to $2,145, a reduction of $40, the four-cylinder sedan is reduced by $50, the new price being $1,795, and $30 is cut from the old prices of the light eight-cylinder roadster and four and five passenger touring cars, the new price for these models being $2,595.
