Standard of New York Advances Price Today—Rise in West, Too.


The Standard Oil Company of New York announced yesterday an advance of ½ cent a gallon in the wholesale price of gasoline, effective throughout its territory today. The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey announced a similar advance toward the close of last week.

According to advices received from the West the Standard Oil Company of Indiana announced an advance of 2 cents a gallon in the wholesale price of gasoline in Minneapolis and St. Paul to 19.2 cents a gallon.

Premiums ranging from 25 to 40 cents are again being paid for the higher grade Pennsylvania crude oils above the posted price. In view of this, predictions were made in the trade yesterday that another advance in the posted price of this product would be announced soon. Reports were also current that mide-Continent crude oil prices would be advanced within the next two weeks.

Production of crude oil in California registered another decline last week. According to figures received in Wall Street yesterday, the daily average production last week was 637,500 barrels, against 641,500 barrels in the previous week. In the Southern fields a reduction of 6,500 barrels was reported, but in the balance of the State there was an increase of 2,500 barrels.
