New Accord For Europe

Honda is achieving much success in the United States auto market. The reason for this is the company's reputation of producing highly reliable vehicles with exemplary fuel efficiency. Recently, the automaker announced that they would be launching a redesigned Accord in Europe.

The automaker announced that the new Accord has been designed to compete with vehicles in the D-segment manufactured by luxury automakers. The European auto market is dominated by German automakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz but Honda sees that it has a chance of taking consumers away from these premium brands.

To attract consumers into Honda dealerships, the Japanese automaker designed the midsize sedan with focus on the needs of different consumers. The Auto Channel reported that the new Accord lineup includes the stylish Accord saloon and the sport Tourer. These new vehicles are equipped with safety features that consumers will be more than wiling to have. Apart from those features, the new Accord also meets the Euro 5 emission regulation.

The new Accord is given more interior room than its predecessor as it is wider although slightly lower. The increased width of the Accord gives it a more muscular stance. This revision on the Honda Accord was made aiming to attract European car buyers who love sporty vehicles.

With the threat of global warming increasing steadily, Honda has done its share in the fight against climate change by developing eco-friendly engines for the new Accord. The new lineup of engines for the Accord is one of the first complete lineups of engines that have been designed to meet strict emission regulations which will take effect on September 2009.

One of these engines is the automaker's second-generation diesel engine. This engine is based on the award-winning i-CTDi unit. Diesel engines are more popular in Europe than it is in the United States. The reason for this is that diesel engines provide more torque than a similarly sized gasoline engine. These new diesel engines are also designed to be cleaner even compared to some gasoline engines.

Another engine developed by the Japanese outfit for the new Accord is the 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine. This is essentially the same as its predecessor. The only difference is that it has been designed to consume less fuel and at the same time deliver the amount of power needed.

Another engine for the new Accord is the 2.4-liter engine. This is the most powerful engine in the lineup. But like the rest, it is also very fuel efficient. This just shows that Honda, also the same manufacturer of Acura vehicles and accessories like Acura CL car cover, is serious about maintaining its success in the global auto market.
