Honda To Present Helpful Awards

Anthony Fontanelle
September 24, 2007

The Japanese automaker Honda is probably known for its reliable cars more than for its civic involvement. But recently, the Southern California Honda Dealers Association announced that they will be handing out the first annual Honda Helpful Awards. This will be the first year that Honda will recognize and reward the most helpful resident of South California.

From September 19 until November 1 this year, residents of South California can visit any participating Honda dealership or the association's site at www.socalhonda.com to nominate the person who they think is the most helpful in their community. They must submit a written explanation why a certain person should be named as the most helpful individual in the area.

Since the winner will also receive a brand new Honda, residents should also explain how a Honda can make the person they are nominating more helpful in the community. They should also pick what Honda model will fit the needs of that person to become more helpful in the area. Nominations are accepted only from residents of the SoCal area. The awarding will be held on January next year in Los Angeles.

The call for helpfulness among residents of Southern California is being brought to the public firsthand by the Southern California Honda Dealers' Association through Honda’s helpful Guys and Girls in Blue who have been traveling the area all year round helping people in fun and expected ways. The said campaign was conceived by Secret Weapon Marketing - a creative agency hired by Honda.

During rainy days of the year, the Honda Helpful Guys and Girls in Blue were armed with umbrellas to help keep people dry. And during hot days, they can be found on beaches, golf courses and parks distributing cold bottled water. And when the price of gasoline increased once again, they visit gas stations and pay for gas for Honda owners. The impact of the said campaign on the reputation of the automaker is positive. The automaker is now not only known for its vehicles as reliable as Bilstein shocks but also for its contribution to the well being of the community.

"The Honda Helpful Awards is much more than a corporate responsibility initiative," said Patrick Adams, the managing director at Secret Weapon Marketing. "This is an opportunity to extend Honda's helpfulness beyond traditional media and the day-to-day activities of the Helpful Guys and Girls in Blue. The purpose of the Honda Helpful Awards is to recognize and salute individuals in Southern California who dedicate their lives to being helpful every day."

The advertisement for the Awards will also be handled by the Secret Weapon Marketing. Advertisement will run on TV, radio, and outdoor messages. The Honda Helpful Guys and Girls in Blue will also be spreading the news to the residents of the area. Aside from that, the Southern California Honda Dealers' Association will also partner with a variety of local and national organizations to promote the virtue of being helpful by recognizing helpful individuals. This is one way that Honda will be helping the community where it operates in.
