HAMPTON, Ga. (May 6, 2020) – Sage Karam, winner of the inaugural INDYCAR Challenge iRacing event at the virtual Watkins Glen International road circuit in March, will move to another iRacing platform this Friday (May 8) when the Nazareth, Pa., racer drives the No. 24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing WIX Filters Subaru WRX STI super car in the Subaru iRX All-Star Invitational Rallycross presented by Yokohama races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway course.

Karam, 25, is no stranger to real rallycross competition after driving in last year’s ARX2 series for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the No. 24 WIX Filters Lites car and scoring one main event victory at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as well as four more runner-up finishes in five ARX2 features.

Karam, a six-time Indianapolis 500 starter, will join Conner Martell in the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team in the Subaru iRX iRacing All-Star Invitational Rallycross series which features course sections of dirt and pavement surfaces as well as jumps. Martell has finished on the podium already in the iRX All-Star Invitational series in the No. 21 DRR Oil2Soil Subaru WRX STI.

The virtual iRX rallycross competition has proven to be an excellent replacement for the real action due to the COVID-19 virus’ impact across the world.

Karam, who led the most laps (123) in the six-race INDYCAR Challenge iRacing series, will be another open-wheel participant in the iRX All-Star Invitational Rallycross virtual series that includes 2016 Indy 500 champion Alexander Rossi and 2016 Indy 500 pole winner James Hinchcliffe.

Other drivers from many motorsports disciplines in the iRX All-Star Invitational Rallycross virtual series include Action Sports legend Travis Pastrana, four-time U.S. rallycross champion Scott Speed, FIA World Rallycross star Andreas Bakkerud, 2016 NHRA Funny Car champion Ron Capps, three-time Mint 400 winner Justin Lofton and two-time Supercross 450cc motorcycle champion Chad Reed. Drivers have been invited from many forms of motorsports including IndyCar, NASCAR, Drag Racing, Rallycross, Formula Drift and Monster Jam.

“I had a great experience last year in the ARX2 rallycross competition with DRR in the WIX Filters car,” said Karam. “Now, I’m anxious to try the iRacing version of rallycross action in the Subaru iRX All-Star Invitational series. I have watched the early events and it looks extremely fun to compete in on the dirt and pavement. Last year, dirt racing was new to me, but I was able to figure it out. I think that will help me in the iRacing rallycross events. The various iRacing events series is a great way to reach out to the fans, giving them action to watch in this difficult time. I’m excited to race against many of the top real drivers from so many different racing disciplines in iRacing.”

DRR team owner Dennis Reinbold saw Karam’s impressive iRacing runs in the INDYCAR Challenge this year and asked Sage about trying the iRX All-Star Invitational series in the No. 24 DRR WIX Filters Subaru super car.

“Sage has spent many years in Simulator racing, and it has improved his skills for the IndyCar,” said Reinbold. “We were very impressed with his rallycross racing last year with our WIX Filters car. He was very fast immediately, and I think he’ll be quick in the iRacing format too. He and Conner were good together on our ARX2 team last year. I expect them to keep DRR right in contention this Friday.”

The Subaru iRX All-Star Invitational Rallycross event at Atlanta Motor Speedway this Friday will begin at 6.p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, will be streamed across iRacing’s social media platforms, with live streaming simulcasts on the Facebook pages of competitors, teams and sponsors. Karam will also have his ‘in-car’ stream on Twitch.TV for media and fans through sagekaram24.

About Dreyer & Reinbold Racing: Dreyer & Reinbold Racing was founded in 1999 by Indianapolis car dealer Dennis Reinbold. The legacy of the Dreyer and Reinbold family dates back to the 1920s with Reinbold’s grandfather, the legendary Floyd “Pop” Dreyer, a former factory motorcycle racer. Dreyer served as a crewman and mechanic on the famed Duesenberg driven by Benny Shoaff and Babe Stapp in the 1927 Indy 500. Dreyer went on to build Indy 500 cars in the 1930s which many started on the front row. In addition, Dreyer constructed championship-winning sprint cars and midgets as well as quarter midgets called Dreyerettes. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing captured its first win in 2000 with driver Robbie Buhl at Walt Disney World Speedway in Orlando, Fla., and has fielded a variety of drivers including Buhl, Buddy Lazier, Sarah Fisher, Buddy Rice, Ryan Briscoe, Al Unser Jr., Townsend Bell and Sage Karam. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has successfully qualified all 40 drivers for the Indy 500 in its history. DRR, who campaigned in the Rallycross for the first time in 2015, captured the 2016 Lites championship in 2016. In 2019, DRR campaigned Karam, Hildebrand, Conner Martell, Cole Keatts, Gray Leadbetter and Lane Vacala in the Lites division.
