From Kansas Winds To Rockingham Road For Bryan Silas

ROCKINGHAM, North Carolina (October 6, 2009) - - The season finale is on tap for the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) this weekend at Rockingham Speedway and after posting a career best fourth place finish in April at “The Rock”, Silas returns to Rockingham looking to end his season on a high note.

Silas also is relying on the one-mile oval to put his No. 11 Rockingham Speedway-Palm Beach Grading (Ford Fusion) back in contention after a blown tire in last Thursday’s Kansas Lottery 150 at Kansas Speedway evaporated the team’s likely 11th top-10 finish of the season.

After starting seventh after Mother Nature washed out qualifying, Silas kept his Andy Hillenburg owned automobile comfortably in the top-15 but a shock adjustment late in the race had propelled Silas’s machine towards the front. On the remarkable march, the right-front tire gave way sending Silas’s machine into the wall. Despite the misfortune Silas held on for a 25th place finish.

With Silas and Co. now out of “Wizard of Oz” land; the team is hoping to follow the yellow brick road to victory lane at Rockingham Speedway. Should Silas pull off the task it would be a welcomed first career victory for the Stuart, Florida native.

“I’m genuinely excited about going back to Rockingham this weekend,” said Silas, who locks the seventh position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings entering Sunday’s ARCA RE/MAX American 200.

“We had a good car in the spring and we’re going to rely on our notes from April and a number of test sessions we’ve had at Rockingham this year to help us towards putting our car in victory lane on Sunday,” Silas added.

With his third full-season of ARCA competition nearly complete, the 2009 season clearly has been the best for the 22-year old driver. With one top-five, 10 top 10’s, an average start of 13th and nearly 97 percent of the laps complete this year, Silas and his Cal Boprey led operation without a doubt has been one of the most “looked at” drivers and teams this season.

“I’m not going to complain about our season,” Silas explained. “We’ve had a very good year but we haven’t found all the pieces of the puzzle just yet. We should have had a victory or two by now but circumstances beyond our control have prevented that. Overall, I have to give a big thanks to every member of the Fast Track Racing team. They have come to the track every week on their game and ready to win. I’m hoping we can complete that final check mark on Sunday.”

Silas will pull double-duty at Rockingham Speedway this weekend. On Saturday, he will make a return to the USARacing Series and compete in the Aaron’s 150. In a BSR (Bryan Silas Racing) owned entry, he will look to make his 14th career start this weekend.

Nason, Yeager, Gerson, White & Lioce P.A., Holland Pump, Oasis Outsourcing, Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will all sponsor Silas’s Ford Fusion for his 71st career ARCA start.

The ARCA RE/MAX American 200 (200 laps / 200 miles) is the 21st of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The fourth ARCA race held at Rockingham is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, October 10 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Sunday, October 11 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The race will be tape-delayed on SPEED. The event will be aired at 10:00 p.m. Sunday night. Live flag-to-flag weekend coverage will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
