USAR Food City 150 Starts Busy Week For Bryan Silas

BRISTOL, Tennessee (Tuesday, August 21, 2007) - - For United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) rookie Bryan Silas, Wednesday’s Food City 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) is the start of what is expected to be one of the busiest weeks of his young racing career.

Silas, a native of Stuart , Florida will participate in three racing events competing in three different racing sanctions. In addition to Wednesday’s USAR show, Silas will attempt to qualify for his short track NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) debut also at Bristol Motor Speedway before turning his primary focus on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit at The Milwaukee Mile on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s been a while since Silas has attempted a USAR event, but the lack of track time doesn’t faze the talented rookie and he’s prepared to step back in the No. 80 Ford Fusion and get down to business.

“I’m looking forward to Wednesday’s race,” said Silas. “It’s been several races since I’ve competed in a Hooter’s Pro Cup event, but I do enjoy racing over here. The people are great, the competition is fierce and I think we have an edge on the rest of the competition.”

The edge that Silas speaks about includes the two test sessions at Bristol Motor Speedway in both the USAR machine and last month during the open test for the NCTS behind the wheel of the No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado.

The track has been resurfaced recently and while many of Silas’s competition will be focusing on how to adapt themselves around the Tennessee based track, Silas however can enter with an open approach since he never had the opportunity to “race” on the old surface.

His tango with the new concrete got off to a rocky start on the USAR side after his test ended early after making contact with the wall.

Now, with his machine fixed, Silas is feeling more confident about BMS.

“The test at Bristol went very well with the Hooter’s car. All things considered,” Silas added. “Unfortunately, we didn’t make it until the end because of an incident, but we learned an awful lot. I know when to give and take on the track now and I have a feeling that our bad luck is gone and we’ll leave Bristol with some good results Wednesday.”

He added, “Racing in the Hooter’s Pro Cup Series is tough. The races are not very long and the competition is stout. Luckily, I have a great bunch of people surrounding me which makes my job a whole lot easier. Based on our showing at the test, we should be able to find a few more tenths-of-a-second and have a good showing.”

Fast Track High Performance Driving School and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will carry the sponsorship roles on Silas’s No. 80 this week at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“Fast Track and PBG have done an awful lot for my career and I am extremely grateful. The race is not televised live but it will be seen in a couple weeks on SPEED. It’s important for me to go out there on Wednesday and have a good run. I need the confidence not only for that race, but for the truck race as well. If we can have two good runs on Wednesday then maybe that will lead to a win in Sunday’s ARCA race at The Milwaukee Mile.”

Silas and Co. will announce their remainder of their USAR plans following Wednesday’s event.
