Deadly Bus Fire in Northern China, Arson Suspected

VOA News
January 5, 2016 4:10AM

Authorities in northern China are searching for the person suspected of setting fire to a bus Tuesday that killed 14 people and left 32 others injured.

The fire took place in the city of Yinchuan, the capital of the remote Ningxia region. State broadcaster CCTV is reporting that police are searching for a man named Ma Yongping in relation to what it called "a serious crime."

No motive has been given for the suspected attack.

There have been several serious bus fires in China in recent years that have been blamed on arsonists. Forty-seven people were killed in a bus fire in eastern China in 2013 that was blamed on a suicidal man.
